Wat Bang Kluay located in Surat Thani province. Wat Bang Kluay traces its origins back more than 300 years, when the Burmese-Karen monk Luang Pho Nei established a small hermitage on the site. Together with his disciples, especially Luang Pho Tao, Luang Pho Rueang, and later Luang Pho Prab, the hermitage grew into a temple. They built the original wooden ordination hall, created the main Buddha image (Phra Phuttha Luang Pho Rueang), and made the temple an important spiritual center known for its respected monks and sacred objects. The temple officially became Wat Bang Kluay on 18 February 1913 and later received royal boundary consecration (Visungkamsima) in 1918. It also served the local community by opening the area's first school in 1917. After a period of decline and abandonment, the temple was restored under the Dhammayuttika Nikaya in 1921, with additional land donated to expand the temple grounds. Despite challenges such as limited access and deteriorating buildings, local villagers and devotees worked together to restore the temple. On 9 February 2000, a new chapter began with the foundation stone ceremony for a new ordination hall and the renovation of the temple's buildings, preserving Wat Bang Kluay as an important religious and historical landmark.
